
Our trip to the Stuhr Museum will be March 12, 2008!What will we do? Students will discover how difficult it was to survive on the frontier and the challenges faced each day, as they prepare their own noon meal from scratch on a wood burning stove. Students husk, shell, grind and sift corn to be baked into corn gems; boil cobs for corncob jelly; churn butter and prepare stew; and help with daily chores (hauling water/firewood, etc.). When will we leave? We are currently scheduled to leave by 7:45AM on Wednesday, March 12th. We will drive out to Grand Island to start our 9:30 class. We will be done around 2:30 and return back to McPhee around 4PM. What can I take along with me? Students can bring along a camera, books, or notebooks. We ask that any nuisance items (music players, video games, toys, etc.) be left at home. If any such items is brought along, a teacher will take the item and it will be given back to the parents upon arrival back to McPhee. What about eating? Breakfast will be provided on the bus trip to Grand Island. Students will create their lunch during the class. A snack will also be provided for the trip back to Lincoln. Please do not send any food with your student. Do you need volunteers? Currently, we do not require any volunteers. When will I find out more information?
