State Writing Test-January 30th-31st (1:30-2:30)

All fourth grade students take the Nebraska State Writing Test each year at the beginning of February. The Nebraska Statewide Writing Assessment is based upon the Six Trait Writing Process and focuses on traits of quality writing commonly used in many Nebraska Schools.  Student writing samples will be reviewed and scored by trained individuals.

Throughout the year, students will be learning about personal narratives. Personal narratives are true stories about oneself. Students also learn how to use excellent elements of writing including:

Students' work is scored in March by trained teachers from across the state of Nebraska. These papers are scored using a rubric. Click here to view the rubric used. Once the papers have been scored, a standard is set for what score qualifies for passing. Below are two example of students' work that have passed in 2006.
